Since 2007, David Loret de Mola has performed in more than 700 improv shows, and has been learning and teaching improv work out of Sacramento, California. Their journey first started with American River College, whereupon coming out of a late night Psychology 301 class they saw a group of people having fun in a portable building near a parking lot. Entering the tiny room, they found their first love of performing: improv.

Since those young, foolish days he’s spent a majority of their improv career working with ComedySportz, an international organization based around competitive short form improv, as well as producing and starring in a bevvy of other long form formats. Among these, their proudest contribution to CSz was a combination of full-band improvised music with short form improv, called “Riff: Heavy Metal Mega Band Rock On!”, which they proudly created an directed for the better part of 2013 and 2014. Additionally, there are a myriad of both dramatic and comedic long form shows under their belt, including the multi-season episodic space drama called Cosmic Conquest, the real life intrigue of City Life, the multi-season game show Improvivor, and countless shows of the uncensored show Unbagged.

During their time in ComedySportz, David was promoted to Player Relations Manager, in charge of ensuring a safe, inclusive, and productive run of shows during their tenure. After their departure from ComedySportz in 2017, they joined Sacramento’s Empire Arts Collective in founding YesAnderson, which took a cast of predominantly new performers and taught improv with a unique format constructed by David himself - nicknamed an Alejandro - based on interviews to create a setting and characters followed by an immersive drop into said-world.

Their proudest achievements, as an improvisor, have been the multiple charity events they has both participated in and helped organize and run, most prominently being 5 years of ComedySportz’ Improvathon, a 26.5 hour (and sometimes 48-50 hour) nonstop run of improv shows and performances where proceeds and toy donations for children were given to Toys For Tots.

As an improv educator, they have gone into schools from elementary to collegiate level across the California valley, running high school league ComedySportz shows and workshops, as well as nonprofits and corporate events ranging from Intel to local organizations like 916Ink. Altogether, David has easily taught more than 300 workshops of varying improv experience levels and ages, and they love nothing more than being able to show the power of growing community through the basic tenet of “Yes, And” - so much so that their spoken word name, AndYes, is an homage to the very concept of cooperative growth.
