Over his time in the Sacramento arts community, since 2007, David Loret de Mola has worked everywhere from local Title 1 elementary schools on up to international corporations and nonprofits, as both a performer and a teacher.

Ten examples of his community work, throughout his time as an improv and spoken word performer, include:

  1. The California Democratic Convention in 2018, where they were brought in to be both a performer and speaker.

  2. Founding Operation FreeSoul as a youth mentorship program for Mayor Steinberg’s Creative Economy Pilot Program (a program they both advocated for officially, as well as received a grant for).

  3. Artist In Residence with Sacramento AIRS, funded by the City of Sacramento - one of only eight artists chosen across Sacramento in 2019.

  4. Planned Parenthood, performing on the 40th anniversary of Roe V. Wade.

  5. Global Shaper’s World Economic Forum in 2018.

  6. Loaves & Fishes, running a multi-week poetry workshop for the unhomed.

  7. Intel, running corporate team building workshops for managers and employees.

  8. More than three-dozen grade schools across the California valley, from Stockton and Lodi to the Bay Area, Auburn, and Sacramento, both independently and as a part of groups like ComedySportz, Empire Arts Collective, Ethnic Theatre Workshop, 916Ink, Sac Unified Slam Team, Zero Forbidden Goals, and more.

  9. In prisons, specifically with Auburn Hip Hop Congress, teaching poetry.

  10. The FreeSoul Grant Writing Workshop, teaching artists of all ages and cultural backgrounds the power of being able to write grants to fund your art and your projects, to increase the diversity of voices who are writing grants in Sacramento.

  11. (Bonus): Performing at Art Street and Art Hotel, Sacramento’s experimental art takeovers of an entire warehouse and hotel (respectively), alongside Zero Forbidden Goals.
